KCDC has been established with an aim of focusing on economic empowerment of people through collective and participatory approach. It has good track of records of different programs coordinating with multiple stakeholders in community development, gender and social inclusion, improved water mill (IWM), poverty reduction, promotion of commercial agricultural activities. Experienced, qualified, competent and dedicated human resources are being contributing their expertise for the upliftment of livelihood of people and their living standard through developmental activities. KCDC has worked in conflict situation with good rapport building among homogeneous and heterogeneous target groups. It has developed local level resource person and capacity building of community based organization to perform the community work competitively.
The KCDC demonstrated the good performance of the work in Mugu district through the financial support from the GNI Nepal, Chhayanath Rara Municipality ,Mugu,USAID Nepal , Next Generation Nepal (NGN), UNICEF Nepal, Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), Centre for Rural Technology (CRT),Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), Mugu Chamber of Commarce and Industry (MCCI) , Agriculture Prospective Plan Support Program (APPSP), Community Livestock Development Programme (CLDP), Western Uplands Poverty Alleviation Program (WUPAP/IFAP), District Development Committee (DDC), District Livestock Service Office (DLSO), District Agriculture Development Office (DADO), Local Governance and Community Development Programme (LGCDP), Local Governance and Accontability Facility (LGAF), CADE, ADB/Raising Incomes of Small and Medium Farmers Project (RISMFP) and several other donors. It works in community level to enhance the living standard of famers, dalit, janajaties and women. Major activities carried-out were farmer group formation and strengthening, social mobilization, leadership development, saving and credit operation of farmers welfare fund. In addition livestock development program through CLDP, DLSO were conducted and has good experience in livestock development and food security. KCDC has successfully completed IWM program in mugu district which is funded by AEPC. KCDC has also supported to construct many community level productive physical infrastructures in different projects VDCs such as irrigation canals, drinking water supply schemes, multiple water use system, community irrigation ponds, community school buildings and toilets for building community level productive assets.
KCDC has involved in awareness creation and education, market led fresh vegetable production, kitchen garden promotion, Seed production, Cash crops production and increase income generation through IWM program. It has also supported to farmers group in nursery establishment, NTFP promotion and income-generating activities. Capacity-building activities such as technical training on the production and marketing of agricultural produce, group and cooperative management, and leadership development were carried out.
The majority of the programs accomplished by KCDC prioritized on a holistic and participatory approach. This focused on group dynamic principles, which include, group formation and management, social inclusion, equity maintenance, group decision, and collective working at the community level. The organization and its working team members were aware of conflict management by sharing opinions, social cohesiveness, and communication skills.
KCDC has systematically documented all information regarding all development activities in the form of progress reports, lessons learned, success case studies, impact studies, and process reports for its knowledge management which is a big asset of KCDC for engaging further development activities.
