The kick-off meeting of the project “Women Small holders and Civil Society Actors of Nepal’s Western Mountain Regions for a Resilient Local Food System (EMPOWER)” was successfully held on April 3, 2026, in Khat yad Rural Municipality of Mugu District. Mr. Aja Bahadur Shahi who participated as a chief guest and Vice-chairperson Mrs.Sarita Rokaya as a distinguished Guest and attended by ward leaders and key stakeholders to discuss the project’s objectives, approaches, and respective roles.
Representatives from Khatyad RM actively participated in the meeting, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening resilient local food systems and empowering smallholder women farmers and marginalized communities in Bajura and Mugu districts.
This meeting marked the initial step of the EMPOWER project, which aims to build resilient local food systems by empowering smallholder women farmers, marginalized communities, and civil society actors in Nepal’s western mountain regions. The project is funded by BMZ / Welthungerhilfe (WHH Nepal) and implemented by KCDC,Mugu in collaboration with Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) and LiBIRD in Mugu.
